Has your business ever struggled with implementing DEI initiatives in your workplace? In this article, I share how creating a sense of belonging is vital for DEI initiatives to succeed. One of my favorite classes I took at BYU was EXDM 350 “Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity”. During this class, we learned to be curious about other people and to listen to their stories. As a result, I am able to navigate conversations about these topics and recognize barriers different cultures, races, orientations, and those with a disability face. I believe that when a company or person empathizes and listens to a person’s experience it enables that company or person to design a better inclusive experience or product.
