Designing Experiences

Nauvoo Historic Tours | April 2019 - October 2020
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I served as a volunteer for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Nauvoo Historic Sites. Because of the pandemic, the historic sites were closed for in-person tours. So, we developed a system to produce virtual tours using Zoom. I developed a Sunday weekly tour focused on helping individuals and families with their Come Follow Me study. In these tours, we connected the pioneer stories to the lesson in the scriptures that week. We eventually expanded this tour to conduct a multi-site tour that showed the story of Joseph Smith from his birthplace in Vermont to his death in Carthage, Illinois. During this time we learned how to advertise virtual tours with Facebook, and with our networking connections. As a result, we brought these tours to the comforts of customers’ homes from around the world and created lasting change in how this historic site operates.
Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy JV Soccer Coach | August - October 2021
One of my favorite transformational experiences I have designed was for Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy’s girl’s JV soccer team. I developed and lead daily training exercises for 14 teenage athletes placing three JV players on the varsity team after the first month. I motivated a team of 14 JV athletes in 11 games. With the head coach, we led the team in weekly discussions about the book “The Fearless Mind” by Dr. Craig L. Manning to develop the players beyond their athletic ability. During this season, I overcame obstacles including injured players, disqualified players, and team drama. I personally achieved new leadership skills and continue practicing my time management skills since I was a full-time student with two jobs. As a result of this experience I created, each player developed and improved their athletic ability and leadership skills.
