I specialize in creating human-centered events in multiple settings. My favorite events to plan are dinners and conferences. I have been working in events since I was young. My dream is to open up my own venue. Scroll below to see some of my work.

Ideas to Impact Freshmen Experience Event - January 2024

I curated an exclusive event for freshmen, collaborating with the UNIV 101 class that transcended traditional recruitment into the Ballard Center.

The objective was to provide a transformative experience, instilling problem-solving skills by addressing root issues and fostering a commitment to serving others. With a turnout of 123 attendees, I strategically designed the space, ensuring a sense of intimacy by assigning student guides at each table and using portable walls to contain the space.

The event featured interactive elements such as reflection worksheets and small group discussions, encouraging collaborative problem-solving on social issues. Informed by insights from freshmen-focused focus groups, this experience not only piqued interest in our introductory class but also spurred a desire for deeper involvement. The event's impact was rooted in the potent "Tripping Over the Truth" technique, driving lasting engagement and enthusiasm among participants.

Pop-in Community Lunch Event - November 2023

I value constant collecting and reviewing data to inform my strategic event designs. In a recent marketing survey conducted by my team, we discovered that over 40% of our students initially entered the Ballard Center through a class, signaling that our events were more about retention than recruitment.

In response, we pivoted our strategy, aiming to deepen students' connection with the Ballard Center by fostering a sense of community. The introduction of our Pop-in community lunch event invited students enrolled in any Ballard Center class to share a meal and connect with the center as a whole.

Recognizing that students often choose classes based on word of mouth, we strategically positioned Ballard Center student employees at the event to share personal experiences in social impact. This approach aims to boost engagement and anticipates an increase in students enrolling in the Global and Community Impact minor.

I lead out in contacting centers around campus regarding their upcoming fairs and design up to five marketing booths a year. Through the strategic use of QR codes and surveys, we systematically gather valuable customer data, seamlessly integrating attendees into our newsletter. Engaging with 50-200 students per event, these marketing initiatives not only amplify brand visibility on campus but also cultivate awareness about the Ballard Center's mission.

In addition, our active participation in these fairs nurtures positive campus relationships, strengthening collaborative ties with other centers that contribute to the vibrant and interconnected campus community.

Peery Presenter Felipe Quiepo United Nations Communications Officer - November 2023

I had the privilege of helping host Felipe Queipo, United Nations Communications Officer, at Brigham Young University. In this three-day visit with Felipe and other guests, we designed their visit as a personal and meaningful experience for students at BYU.

Their visit included small lunches and dinners with our speaker. In addition, we partnered with several offices on campus to create a speaking event for their targeted students. The crowing event was Felipe’s keynote where he discussed poverty. At this keynote, we had a reception for students to network and meet Felipe.

Employee Orientation - August 2023

In coordination with the Ballard Center's director, HR, and Communications teams, we orchestrated a highly impactful annual employee orientation. This event served as a vital introduction to the center's purpose, history, and values for new hires.

By carefully curating an engaging session and aligning with the organization's mission, the orientation not only set a positive tone for the year but also significantly elevated morale within the center. The unified effort proved instrumental in creating a cohesive and inspired team ready for any challenges ahead.

Employee Retreat - Camping American Fork Canyon July 2023

Collaborating closely with the HR team, we crafted a two-day camping retreat designed for team unity and skill development. Our comprehensive approach involved organizing engaging activities, including hikes, paddle boarding, and cozy evenings with s'mores and card games.

We served homemade breakfast casseroles and surprised our employees with homecooked naan bread, and Indian curry.

The synergy between logistics, HR expertise, and thoughtful planning resulted in a harmonious blend of team bonding and skill-building, elevating the overall experience for our 33 summer employees.

Celebrating Simplicity Wedding Reception | July 23, 2023

I had the honor of planning a heartwarming wedding reception that redefined the idea of a dream celebration. My brother and sister-in-law's special day was all about cherishing unforgettable experiences, proving that simplicity can be truly magical.

This wedding stood out for its beautiful casualness – an enjoyable gathering where guests felt like they were hanging out with dear friends. Together we designed the event with no formalities like a first dance, bouquet toss, or cake cutting, just genuine joy! Every detail from the dress code down to the angle each table was positioned was intentionally designed to encourage genuine connection.

Warm greetings, heartfelt gratitude for each guest, and games galore for the kids adorned the backyard. My sister-in-law even grew her own bouquet with wildflowers, adding a personal touch without breaking the bank. Did I also mention we were cleaned up by 9:30 pm?

This wedding taught me that the experience matters more than the things. Sometimes I feel we may get so caught up with the social media clout, traditions, and trendy decorations that we lose sight of the reason for a celebration. By focusing on what brings joy to everyone, we created cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Planned and executed the Ballard Social Impact Center’s first-ever Social Innovators Conference. This event of 123 participants consisted of Ballard Center alumni, current students, and partners. At this event, we honored the annual Social Innovator of the Year Joseph Grenny and Tim Stay. In addition, participants heard from keynote speakers Melissa Sevy, CEO of Ethik, and Todd Manwaring, founding director of the Ballard Center. This conference was a meaningful event for all attendees to workshop and listen to professionalists talk about how they are active participants in solving social issues.

Ballard Social Impact Center Social Innovators Conference | April 6 - 7

Ballard Social Impact Center 20th Anniversary Dinner with special guest President M. Russell Ballard | February 23, 2023

Planned and executed the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Ballard Social Impact Center with distinguished guest President M. Russell Ballard. Unfortunately, because of the space, we could not have all our student employees at the dinner to speak with the donors and President Ballard. We still wanted the student employees to feel included and valued at this event. So, with the help of my team, we thought of key moments that mattered to student employees and designed an experience to help them feel included and valued at this event even if they could not be in the room eating dinner with the donors. We had a conference room in the back decorated similarly with food for students to eat a nice dinner. They then later joined us for the program.

Wellness Wise Workshop | January 19 - 20, 2023

Sponsored by the Peery Film Series, we conducted an interactive workshop focused on mental wellness. We partnered with BYU’s Wellness Wise committee to present to students ways they can improve their wellness by focusing on six different areas: physical, social, mental, intellectual, financial, and spiritual. The event was designed with specific elements like a mindfulness exercise to help students leave feeling better than they arrived.

In addition, we designed this event so students would leave with newfound knowledge and feel empowered to take charge of their health. At the end of this event, we had several students come up and thank us for the way this experience helped them. One student, in particular, was just diagnosed with depression that morning. She said she left feeling like she could improve her mental health by focusing on the other areas she had control over. Ultimately, she felt empowered to take care of herself despite her recent diagnosis.

Peery Film Series | August 2022 - March 2023

Planned and executed 7 Peery Film events with an average of 173 students at each show. At the event, we watched a film about a specific social issue and invited professionals to speak about ways students can get involved to solve that social issue. In addition, I redesigned the Peery Film Series website using Squarespace and custom CSS to match the branding and style guides. As a result of this event, we sold 900+ tickets and inspired students to solve social issues.

Baby Shower | August 2022

Planned baby a baby shower for my older sister. For this event, we folded over 70 paper airplanes and hung them around the yard. I also put together a quilted baby blanket and let everyone help tie the quilt together. Finally, we hung pictures of my sister and her husband when they were young. This was a simple but meaningful event. My sister was very grateful for all the love I put into this event.
